Make your hair and makeup as colorful as the spring runway trends.
Light Bright Spring took a long, hard look at lips and found that just a little goes a long ways. Neon colors, like those on the runway, showed up as bold statements on the mouths of models. At the Temperley London show, lips turned a matte electric orange shade, while at Badgley Mischka, fuchsia made mouths stand out. For an electric orange look, try MAC Cosmetics Mattene Lipstick in orange dare, $14.50, and to get to-die-for fuchsia lips, try MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in full fuchsia, $14. Mussy Tresses Somehow, the Kate Moss bedhead look just keeps coming back. Perhaps because the look says sexy. Models at the Miss Sixty and Cynthia Rowley shows strutted in hair that looked as if it hadn’t been brushed in days. Start with a gel, such as Phyto Phytofix Setting Gel, $24, Sephora, and blow-dry your hair until it’s just dry. Don’t mess with your hair too much; you want your hair to look like you just rolled out of bed. Ballet Slipper Pink While ballet flats have found their way onto feet, much to the delight of fashion lovers, ballet pink has now made its way onto the lips of the runway. At Reem Acra, the sheer color had just a bit of gloss, while at Peter Som they were matte. For a glossy look, Try NARS lip gloss in foul play, $24, Blue Mercury, and for a matte look, try Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in ballet pink, $22.50, Nordstrom. Bronze Baby Look like you just stepped off the beaches of Tahiti with an all-over bronze look that found itself sunning the runways. Skip the creamy bronzers in favor of a powder. Designers from Zac Posen and Chaiken to Michael Kors had their models looking fresh off the beach. Try Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in baked stardust, $30, Sephora, for your face and Prescriptives Prescriptives Sunsheen Cooling Bronzing Powder, $35, Neiman Marcus, for your body. Get the Blues Don’t think of blue eye shadow as a trend of the ‘80s. It has a playful place with this spring’s daring looks. At the Marni show, blue cat eyes and light pink lips gave artsy pieces a young look. Sweep on Make Up For Ever Flash Color in pale blue, $17, Sephora. Rich Lips Red never seems to go out of style for a classic look, and this spring will be no different. Bold lips in dark crimson found their way onto the runways at Chanel, Carolina Herrera and Bottega Veneta Paired with browns on the lids in almost a smoky eye look with neutral face. At Miu Miu, models sported almost black liner with red lips. Look for a matte updated red such as Dior Rouge Lipstick in celebrity red, $27, Neiman Marcus. Debbie Harry Rebellious eyes reminiscent of pop star Debbie Harry countered the simpler looks that found time on the runway. Givenchy paired sooty eyes with stark couture, while Philadelphia-native Chado Ralph Rucci relied on heavy eyeliner and neutral lips. For a bit of a change, add a dash of blue like Narciso Rodriguez did for his spring collection. To soften this look, try DuWop Smoke in black gold, $28, Sephora, paired with Shiseido The Makeup Fine Eyeliner in soft black, $27, Macy’s. No one has commented on this article. J!
