Image…But you can't hide in these fashion trends for spring.

If you felt like you could blend in with your surroundings this past fall draped in shades of gray, think something new for spring. This is no time to hide. Here's a look at some of the best trends for spring 2008. Prepare to be seen.

Summer of Love
The hip and spirited bohemians take on a more refined look this spring. Oliver Theyskens for Nina Ricci added a rock star quality to his take on the Summer of Love, while Roberto Cavalli used touches of prairie skirts and wide legs in a bright color palette. Fringe and tie-dye return. The Olsen twins must be swooning.

Roy G. Biv
If you’re unfamiliar with this mnemonic for the visual color spectrum, memorize it now. In a seeming revolt against the gray color palette of fall, designers unleashed chartreuse, neon orange, electric blue, tomato red and shocking shades of pinks, yellows and purples. Bright color packed a punch, from dresses to suits and everything in between. Lanvin sent out an assortment of greens and reds, while simpler lines such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren took their cues from the brighter shades of the palette.

Return of the Angiosperms
Every few seasons, designers turn to the poppies, lilacs, roses, daisies and peonies of nature to transform their collections into a garden of delights. Carolina Herrera took an almost painterly approach to her garden, while tiny calico prints adorned Luella's collection. To draw even more attention away from the butterflies, go for the hand-painted buds of Dolce & Gabbana or the splashy, over-the-top patterns from Balenciaga. You'll never be a wallflower in these looks.

In My Tribe
Resort season took you on a safari. Spring takes a more romanticized approach. Spring's new neutrals — rich browns, khakis and bones — served as the starting point for tribal patterns and animal prints. Oscar de la Renta turned to Ikat- and kente-style fabrics, while Nicole Miller went for African-inspired designs. For a tamer version of this trend, look to shirtdresses and safari suits from Badgley Mischka or DKNY, styles reminiscent of "Out of Africa."

Make an Imprint
Designers really wanted to shake off the doldrums of winter when they turned to psychedelic patterns for their collections. Christian Lacroix found inspiration in the colors of the rainbow while Fendi took lead with geometric shapes. For a tamer approach, try graphic patterns in black and white from Anna Sui or Mondrian color blocks from Chloe.

Patriotic Nods
Befitting of an election year, designers found inspiration in the Stars and Stripes. Chanel went so far as to create a navy starred dress topped with a red and white striped bolero, while Derek Lam didn't go spot-on and just let stripes serve as his design. For a modern take on the resort-inspired stripes, look to Pucci for neon stripes in random patterns.

Sheer Elegance
A layer of gauzy wonder hung over the spring 2008 fashion collections, but the haze wasn't in the form of a hangover. Designers from Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs and Fendi created cloudlike layers over clothes or tucked sheer panels into the sides and backs of dresses. While this trend tended toward dresses and gowns, expect to see it on bustiers and in capes to cover you on a spring night.

Man of the House
While most of the spring collections dreamed of sultry lingerie, very feminine flowers and bright poppy colors, some designers nodded to fashion's more menswear-inspired lines. The suit made a comeback at Karl Lagerfeld, who added a glam-rock feel to his looks. Shoulders at Yves Saint Laurent ventured into '80s padded territory. Just think skinny pants, vests and small jackets.
