Tom Hylton does not claim to be an expert. He’s just a concerned citizen and writer who cares about the traditional towns that he’s always called his home. During his quest to preserve small-town life, he has written a series of articles and a book, which was turned into a documentary, picked up a few awards, and has addressed national audiences about land and town development.

Six days after the LIVE8 Concert took place in Philadelphia and around the world, Bob Geldof, the socially-conscious rock star and producer of the mega-concert said: “This is the day when the end of extreme poverty made history.” More than three billion people literally helped change a global agenda, forcing the world’s leaders to address the issue of extreme poverty in Africa. This was the same man, who twenty years earlier, called attention to the famine in Ethiopia through another concert in Philadelphia, LIVE Aid, which raised more than $200 million, and proved that music can make a difference.
