Strange Magic
A 7-acre field of boulders that ring like bells
In the summer of 1890, Dr. J.J. Ott gathered some rocks from a boulder field in Bridgeton Township, PA, arranged them in a particular order, and then beat them with a hammer. Instead of a dull thud, the rocks produced strange, bell-like tones. Accompanied by a brass band, Ott used the rocks, positioned by octave, to play several musical selections for the Buckwampum Historical Society of Bucks County.
